Notes

I think our world takes Lightmancy too much for granted sometimes, such that when the day Lightmancy fails we are left without options.

“The beauty of light is it’s limits. The beauty of power is in it’s weaknesses.” - Amerac III Introduction

The art of Lightmancy is our greatest weapon against the forces of the mist. To wield, train, and fight with light, Lightmancy is perhaps the most glorious defense ever known to mankind. However, those that harbor the belief that staff waving and silly lights show is all there is about Lightmancy may be surprised to find the subtle laws and nuances that govern the 7 hues of light. There are much more than what meets the eye, or staff, for that matter, and the details are what gets overlooked most often.

Success within Lightmancy comes down mostly on the executions of details. Slight nudges off of what is standard casting may lead to a miss of a spell at best, or a backfire of spell at worst. Being careless with the attunement of light may cause your gemstone to shatter, or your whole wand to shatter. Therefore, to be successful at Lightmancy, one is steady and patient, even in stressful situations. Know your limitations, your prowess, and what is and isn’t possible for you, and move forward step by step.

Preface Lightmancy is a system that’s based on light. The light that you see, the light that shines from the sun, they are all fuel waiting for you to draw upon them. The light in our environment is also a finite quanta, that is, it does not stay around for long, and quickly dissipates into entropy. Those that happen to capture light before it dissipates can be used as fuel in Lightmancy, and using it will convert that to entropy as well, though at an instantaneous rate. Light is always replenished in our world, and the most common source of it is from the sun as sunlight. Although there are also other sources of light out there, such as:

  • Fires, which gives off light that is easier to burn for Red Attunement
  • Candlelight, which gives off either Red or Orange shifted light
  • Metallic Limelight, which gives off a slightly Blue or Violet shifted light
  • Channeled Light, from channeling violet or yellow, though not very practical for our purposes
  • Crystallight, from overheating crystals.
  • Sunlight, a tint-neutral light that can be bent to any colors

However, drawing upon this light isn’t an intuitive process. One must learn how to channel, before they can move light.
