By killing a mistcaster, steelcaster, or lightmancer with a metal spear or projectile through the head, Hemofusion is performed, which transfers the power of the dead caster into the metal at a rapidly depreciating loss. The subject then ingests the metallic portion of the projectile, whether that be the tip of a spear or an iron projectile, which completes the transfer of power into the subject.
Most Hemofusion weapons are small steel beads, which are shot from a sort of proto-gun device. Beads and balls are the most common “projectile” in Hemofusion, since ingesting a spear tip is impractical and can lead to injuries. There are also some cases where disks are used, though none of these projectiles are larger than a fist.
The leaking power from the metal will be contained within the subject’s stomach, which will be absorbed slowly over time. It may take a few hours to half a day, but once finished, the subject will be able to cast almost as well as the victim they took the power from, without having to learn or study for it.
Hemofusion is usually a wastful art, with the power of a mistcaster oftentimes split between the transfer medium and still inside the caster’s body.
Ways of mitigating losses:
- If immediate ingestion is not possible, keeping the projectile soaked in the victim’s blood will help sustain some of the power, slowing the rate of power loss.
- By drawing a blood circle with the subject’s blood (increases rate of absorption into the subject) and/or the victim’s blood (lowered rate of power loss)
- By performing a “Hemofusion Ritual” which forms a sort of arcane “suction” that attempts to suck in any remaining blood in proximity before they are decayed. To perform a Hemofusion Ritual, draw three blood circles with both the victim’s blood and your blood mixed together, then cut the victim’s head off to sever the victim’s remaining power from the rest of his/her body.
- place the victim’s head in the middle of the circle
- open the victim’s mouth and place the projectile you killed them with inside.
- If all of this is completed, the blood in the circle should start to glow red, the victim’s mouth would glow briefly red (a tiny bit). After a second it should die down
- Quickly ingest the newly charged projectile.
piercing different organs of a light caster, or the blood of mist casters, Hrmofusion is performed. Although it is an efficient way of transferring power from person to person, Hemofusion is very wasteful and extremely messy and unnatural to maximize efficiency. Stabilizing a Hemofusion is usually the best way to preserve transferring efficiency. By drawing a blood circle, referred to as life essence henceforth, the presence of life essence could stabilize a hemofusion procedure, minimizing special blood waste using normal blood. This stabilization is also reliant on the surface this procedure is carried out on. A rough surface like wood, stone, or sand is going to absorb blood, greatly lowering the efficiency of Hemofusion. This is why most often, this procedure is done on a steel or glass surface, both of them are materials that either repel blood or does not absorb blood. Though be warned, this does make for a rather messier procedure than normal.
